These are the glory days of the masked crime fighter, with society loving them and the heroes enjoying the heck out of what they do - even forming a loose alliance with one another. Eventually in the film we see some of these older "superheroes" who are now either dead or retired - trying to live normal li

Watchmen Comic Movie : Watchmen has been keeping you pretty busy these days. How much of your week is dedicated to interviews and appearances related to the film adaptation and your new book Watching the Watchmen ? Do you even have time to create comics anym

Watchmen follows the book very closely for the most part. Where it deviates mainly is via omission of certain aspects of the book and the ending. But what you see on the screen follows the imagery in the book to a "T." Visually, I don't think anyone could have done a better job with bringing the artwork from the book to life. I do think that some of what was omitted (and may be in the director's cut for all I know) might have brought more humanity to the film. In particular what you'll find missing if you've read the book is anything having to do with the old magazine stand guy and the young man reading "Tales of the Black Freighter" while keeping him comp

Dave Gibbons: I’d love to collaborate with Alan on another comic project. On any project. We’ve always enjoyed the things that we’ve done together although we’re completely different people....We do end up on pretty much the same wavelength when it comes to comic books and I think we’ve both done some of our best work together. I think we’ve enjoyed it as wel

Movies worth noting that are missing from that top 10 list include The Happening (huge stinker for Shyamalan), The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (couldn't bring myself to watch it), 10,000 B.C. (do I even need to comment on this one?), Speed Racer (LSD trip for kids), and Hellboy II: The Golden Army (too niche, I suppo

One big suprise in the above list is Pixar's Wall-E : I'm really shocked that the R-rating-pushing, PG-13 and mediocre (according to most critics) Hancock actually beat the family friendly Pixar film. Also surprising is that Kung Fu Panda made almost as much as the Wall-E . It looks like despite the universally rave reviews for Wall-E , that the overly message-heavy plot of the movie wasn't as much of a winner with families as other of their films like The Incredibles and Finding Nemo . Heck, even Cars (considered by many to be Pixar's weakest film) made more money than Wall-E at the box off

Are you looking forward to Hancock 2 ? Are you annoyed it will be hitting theaters later rather than sooner? Would you be bothered if Berg didn't come back to direct again, since he appears to be ultra-busy with other proje

The nominees have been announced for the fourth annual Scream Awards, held every year by Spike TV . The decisively more "fan-friendly" award ceremony (compared to the Oscars) honors films from the sci-fi, fantasy, horror and comic-book genres of movies, TV shows and comic books. The awards are described as, "the first and only global event of its kind," to honor those gen

So in the end, is Watchmen a good film? I think so. Was it a great or close to perfect film? I'd have to say no. It felt long to me, and we have the issues I pointed out above. It is however yet another comic book-based movie that breaks the mold, and lays the groundwork for more non-traditional comic book stories to be turned into fi

We also had the chance to see the long awaited Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull , the latest Pixar flick Wall-E , Will Smith as a superhero movie games achievements|https://Superheromoviespot.com/ in Hancock , Angelina Jolie as an assassin in Wanted , Hellboy II: The Golden Army . To keep us laughing we had Tropic Thunder , The Pineapple Express (which I haven't seen) and Get Sma
